The end of an era

By Victoria Polmatier | 10:11 AM PDT, Sun April 20, 2008

We lost two neighbors today. They were two large old cherry trees that stood over our back fence. I've sworn at those trees many times when the birds dropped their messy fruit all over my yard. The neighbor has tried to contain the trees over the years by pruning, but that only served to make them rather grotesque in shape.

Looking for normalcy in sick chicks

By Victoria Polmatier | 10:11 AM PDT, Thu March 27, 2008

We live in a world where we look for symptoms. Does what is happening in my body look like a particular set of symptoms? Am I getting sick? It seems we are always looking, in part, for what is wrong rather than what is right with our bodies.

A hummingbird good morning

By Victoria Polmatier | 9:11 AM PST, Mon March 03, 2008

This morning I was in the kitchen standing at the sink when suddenly a hummingbird flew right up the window and stopped in front of me. It stayed for only a moment and then moved on. I smiled and wondered what made that hummingbird stop and say good morning.

Over the last two years, I have added a number of plants to my yard that provide nectar for hummingbirds. But they aren't in bloom. With the cold weather we've had, everything is pretty sorry looking at the moment. I guess I'd have to say, it was simply a thank you for all my efforts.

Welcome

I've been writing blogs on the internet since 2007. Like my life, my words have wandered from Wisdom or Life Lessons and Wellness, to Gardening and Aquaponics. After my son’s death by suicide in 2016, Poetry became a big piece of my world as I tried to make sense of the tragedy of his death.

In truth, his death took me into my own journey with darkness. I've shared a bit during the last ten years but nothing in comparison to what I've written. Only recently have I started to climb back into life and the desire to share my writing.

These days, my writing is varied and inspired by the moment. I participate in two writing group, one where we write to prompts from a book by Judy Reeves called A Writer’s Book of Days: A Spirited Companion and the other where we journey and then write about our experience or about the wisdom gained. Much of this writing is buried in journals in my office. As I move forward, Some of that will be found under Stories, Magic and the Mystical.

How do you read this jumble of topics? You can read what’s latest, type a word into Search and see what comes up, or select a Topic from the Blog Content below. However you read, I hope you enjoy.

Blessings, Victoria
