Mr. Kitty's Freedom

It's a beautiful summer's evening.
I guess, more accurately.
It's spring, but the warmth in the air
makes it feel like summer.
Tom's music is playing
in the background.
Chickens are running around
nibbling here and there.

Overwhelm -
cousin of Confusion
Another great place
to just hang out.
Enemy of
Creativity and
Living.
Ha!

Confusion
is such a convenient
escape.
Allows us to pretend
we have no idea
what is our heart's desire.
Allows us to ignore
the nudging of our
inner spirit.

Jason has been in my dreams
the last few nights.
They've been pleasant bits
of meals shared and
time spent together.
It's been many weeks
since he's ventured into
the dreamscape of my mind.

Dear Chocolate,
Oh how I love thee,
dear chocolate.
However,
it seems
you don't love me
as much as I love you.

Choices
in every moment, choices.
Right, left,
up, down,
forwards, backwards.
Choose time with loved ones
or screen time.
Choose the healthy food
or that yummy treat
Write.
Whatever comes to mind -
birds singing
rain falling
puddles getting ever deeper
springtime
fresh green leaves
new clothing for trees
blossoms bursting forth
spring is in the air
rain, rain, rain
so much rain
It's all part of the
experience right now.
My body aches
from yesterday's projects.
My mind is a blur,
no clarity to be found.
My eyes
New things -
stretching out of
my comfort zone,
energy bursting inside,
chest tight,
mind whirling and spinning.
It's a good thing -
trying new things,
stretching oneself.
It's easy to feel
those feelings of terror
and turn and walk away.
Put the new thing away.
Forget the new opportunity.
But I now know
that makes me feel bad.
So, instead -
I'll climb that dream

Spring time
Gardening time
Lots and lots of labor
Labor that leaves me feeling
exhausted and satisfied.
Driving down the road
I see new construction
at the business park
near where Jason worked.
Or...
Going to visit family,
I see the road is all torn up
and construction is in full force
Or...
I read an article in the news
about a new restaurant
going into a development
along the river
And...
I think to myself
If Jason were still alive
I'd know all about these
It seems I’ve been bridging worlds much of my life in one way or another. The writings here are a kind of bridge with the early writings starting in 2007 with articles aimed at Gardening and Aquaponics. I continued to garden but my writing moved more toward Wisdom or Life Lessons and Wellness. After my son’s death by suicide in 2016, Poetry became a big piece of my world as I tried to make sense of the tragedy of his death.
These days my writing is varied. I participate in two weekly writing groups, one where we write to prompts and the other where we journey and then write about what we've learned. Much of this is under
